Jubilee Edition Wooden Casing for the Sony PS5

Course Project

The design process

The project aimed to redesign the PlayStation 5's panels into a warmer, less futuristic style that complements Swedish living rooms, then manufacture and attach them to a mock-up to assess their appearance and feel in context.

Early sketch created in the project to visualize the concept and manufacturing of the needed parts.

Based on the CAD model, the main console form was milled from MDF, and birch plywood was heated and vacuum-pressed over it to gradually follow the curves. The key challenge was shaping the plywood without cracking or causing damage while ensuring accurate formation.
